A: The cost to get your company on the web depends on how much you want to put on the site. A basic site will take about a week to develop and post. If there are a lot of pictures, pages of information or if you are going to run an internet business where people pay, then the cost will be a lot higher. Like any business out there, Time is Money!

A: How fast a website can be ready depends on the complexity of the site. A simple site with some pictures and description of the company can take a few days and people can find you pretty fast. A site with lots of flash will take longer because it takes time to write the flash for the site.

A:There are many different companies and ways to get advertising on your website. One of the easiest ways is to use Google Ads, a service of Google. You place a small little script into your page and ads show up on the page. You get paid per hit when someone goes to one of the advertisers. If you have a busy site, then you can make a lot using Google.

Another way is to go to the local stores and ask if they would want to advertise on your site. You may ask how much to charge, well that depends on how popular your site is.

A: If the domain name is not in use, and available, then you can usually get it within a few minutes. The costs vary depending on where you buy it and what comes with it. Some places will give you the domain name for free, but you have to purchase web hosting from them.

If the domain name you want is already owned, contact the owner and see if they want to sell it. This usually will cost you a lot more than a domain name that is available. I have heard rumors of domain names going for hundreds of thousands of dollars because someone really wanted it and it was already owned by someone.

Q: Is it better to have your website hosted on a FREE server or a server you have to pay for?

A: The big difference between FREE website hosting and paying for hosting is the advertisements. On a FREE web hosting site, they have to pay the bills somehow, and that somehow is by putting up advertisements on your site. They are usually banners on the top of your site and sometimes on the sides.

When you pay for a server, you are the only one who can decide if you want to put ads on your site. Remember that ads are a source of income for websites, but I would rather put the money into my pocket!
A lot of sites start out as Free sites and then transistion to a server when they can afford to pay for it.
